Meet Dr. Joseph F. Kern

Joseph F. Kern, DDS, MD

Dr. Joseph F. Kern completed his undergraduate studies at Ursinus College in 2000 with a BS in biology. He was a member of the Beta Beta Beta Biological Honor Society and played on the 1996 Centennial Conference Champion Ursinus College football team. Dr. Kern received his Doctorate of Dental Surgery from the University of Maryland School of Dentistry in 2004. He was awarded several honors while in dental school, including the Gorgas Odontological Honor Society and the Horace Wells Award for Excellence in Anesthesia. Dr. Kern received his M.D. from Drexel University College of Medicine in 2007, and subsequently completed two years of general surgery residency at Hahnemann University Hospital.

Dr. Kern completed his specialty training in oral and maxillofacial surgery at Drexel University College of Medicine in 2010. He served as oral and maxillofacial surgery chief resident from 2009-2010 at Hahnemann University Hospital and Saint Christopher’s Hospital for Children. He currently serves as a clinical instructor in the Drexel University College of Medicine Department of Surgery. Dr. Kern is double board-certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and the National Board of Dental Anesthesiology

Dr. Kern’s clinical interests include pediatric oral and maxillofacial surgery, maxillofacial trauma, and office-based anesthesia.

Dr. Kern and his wife Heather have been together since college and enjoy spending time with their son and daughter. In his spare time, he enjoys fishing and golfing.
